How do you follow a world-conquering breakthrough? If you’re Indian nu-metal pioneers Bloodywood, you turn it up on a notch. Nu Delhi is occasionally even heavier than 2022’s Rakshak, but sprinkles more electronic elements on the mosh-inciting mash of metal and rap with Indian classical and folk. The addition only enhances the material, as on delightfully bonkers BABYMETAL duet “Bekhauf”. It’s not as explicitly political as its predecessor, yet Nu Delhi’s largely motivational and celebratory tone works wonders, coming from a band that can’t be knocked for revelling in their much-deserved success.
