See AllFunny and delightful
I binge read this today and loved it so much! These characters will have you laughing, swooning and falling in love with them. So many fun tropes - sports, surprise marriage of convenience and musician. Maya has a bad habit of getting herself in trouble…with marriages…in Vegas. She’s a talented musician who wants to make it big, she’s willing to put in the work…just hasn’t had the opportunity. Sloan is a hotshot football player that has made a big mistake and is trying to lay low. He’s a good guy, has a big heart and is immediately smitten with Maya. These two are fantastic! I love how Sloan brings calmness to Maya and Maya helps organize Sloan. Lol. The banter, passion and overall care for one another is beautiful. He falls first…and is so patient. They are surrounded by amazing friends who help them along the way and bring even more laughs.
Salt and Pepper at its Finest
When I checked out this book, I admit that I was giving the blurb a little side eye wondering if I would enjoy this book, concerned that it would be too over the top for my liking. I'm so glad that I did read this book because I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't want to put it down.
On the Map takes place in the author's Mile High universe with some cameos from your favorite characters and some new to me characters that I now need to read their stories. Maya and Sloan's chemistry was fire, banter was witty, and their communication should be the goals of anyone in any sort of 'ship. While considered a rom-com, I loved the contemporary vibes. Sloan will be your new favorite book boyfriend with his cinnamon roll personality and you'll sympathize with Maya and her feelings of being stuck in her career. This was just an all around great story.
Funny Opposites Attract Rom-Com
I loved Maya and Sloan right off the bat. They were unapologetic for who they were, as they should be and there was fun opposites-attract chemistry from the start. They also took what could be termed a mistake and turned it into something positive for both of them. But what I really loved about this story was how they acted. They didn’t play games, they set rules, they talked, they had fun, and without even realizing it they fell in love. Of course, this wasn’t part of the game plan and broke all the rules but just added to the sweetness of the story in how each of them dealt with this new twist.
As always with a Christina Hovland story we got humor, heat, and heart with her characters. We also got a few cameos from some of our other favorites like Brek and Bax, which is always fun.
I’m really looking forward to what this author has planned next and I’m hoping it has something to do with Elliott and Angela! After that we can tackle Emily and then the rest of the single guys on the football team because I’m all in for the season.
