Schuyler Bailar was the first transgender athlete to compete on an NCAA Division 1 men's team. As a renowned speaker, author, and thought leader, Schuyler's work includes answering questions from all sorts of people relating to gender, current events, mental health, civil-rights issues, and so much more. But there are always questions left unanswered -- until now.

On "Dear Schuyler", the award-winning activist answers questions he receives from followers, allies, and anyone who wants to learn more about how our ideas of gender shape our lives. To help inform those answers, Schuyler speaks to guests whose wisdom and experiences are directly impacted by those questions -- people like like NCAA champion swimmer Lia Thomas, ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio, Olympian Megan Rapino and others. These are the culture movers, the experts, and the real people who tell their stories, teach their lessons, and help us all recognize how they're shaping today's society and culture.

How can sharing our stories help others feel less alone? ✶ with Ryan Cassata

Isolation often allows hate to endure, making it crucial to break through such barriers. However, for trans people, recounting one's journey can be a complex experience.

That is why Schuyler invited Ryan Cassata on to the show. Together, they explore Ryan's discussions about his gender journey on shows like Larry King Live and The Tyra Banks Show, and his approach to sharing his life story through music.

How can we undo the gender binary? ✶ with Devin-Norelle

The gender binary, or the idea that there are only two genders, is at the core of so many issues facing transgender people today. However, Schuyler speaks with the host of PBS' Brave Spaces and trans advocate Devin-Norelle about how this false assumption impacts those who may not believe gender plays a significant role in their life, and how radical self-reflection can help dismantle this societal norm.

Why are there so many anti-trans bills? ✶ with Chase Strangio

A good place to start

This podcast meets people where they’re at, and doesn’t push ideologies. Just people having an open and honest conversation. At the end of the day, we’re all people wanting to live happy and fulfilled lives, right?

I was disappointed, but not surprised, to see that the only negative reviews are from people who came into this space with fear in their hearts. Here’s hoping that someday they’re able to listen and learn, life is too beautiful to waste away in hate.
