About Ahmed El-Salamouny

Munich-based Ahmed El-Salamouny is a classically trained, nylon-string guitarist, author, composer, and educator devoted to Brazilian music. In addition to being an internationally recognized performer and recording artist, he directs the Brazilian Guitar Workshop. Brazilian Dances, his independently issued debut album, appeared in 1987 and was followed in 1988 by Tango Brasileiro. He formed a trio with Brazilian guitarist Claudio Menandro and percussionist Gilson de Assis to record 1994's Aquarela: Brazilian Music for Guitars & Percussion, followed by Samba Urbano in 1995. 2001's Brazilian Guitar appeared on Acoustic Music Records to international acclaim and sent him back on tour. 2006's Sketches of Rio drew critical accolades across the globe. He followed with the how-to book Breaking the Wall, and seven more instructional books and DVDs (that also contained recordings) dealing with many aspects of interpreting and playing Brazilian music. He returned to recording with 2021's Rio Rhythms.
