If you’re a student enrolled in a degree-granting university, you can subscribe to Apple Music at a discounted monthly rate for up to 48 months. Learn how to get a student subscription. And how to reverify your student status to continue your student subscription.

How to qualify for an Apple Music student subscription

You must be a student studying an associate degree, bachelor degree, post-graduate degree, or equivalent higher education course at a college or university.

How to get a student subscription to Apple Music

If you’re currently subscribed to Apple Music, learn how to change your subscription plan. If you’re a new subscriber, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Apple Music app or iTunes for Windows.

  2. Go to Listen Now.

  3. Choose the trial offer (one trial per person).*

  4. Choose Student.

  5. Choose Verify Eligibility.

  6. Follow the onscreen steps to verify your student status.

  7. After your student status is verified, follow the onscreen steps to start a free trial and purchase a student subscription with your Apple ID. Need help?

*To get the trial offer, you have to be a new subscriber.

Access Apple TV+ with your Apple Music student subscription

If you have an Apple Music student subscription, you get access to Apple TV+ at no extra cost. Just open the Apple TV app and start watching Apple Originals. You can't share this Apple TV+ access with Family Sharing.

How to reverify your student status

You need to reverify that you’re a student once a year to continue your student subscription. You can reverify your student status in the Apple Music app or iTunes for Windows. You can also reverify in Settings on your iPhone or iPad.

Reverify your student status in the Apple Music app or iTunes for Windows

  1. Open the Apple Music app or iTunes for Windows.

  2. If you see a message that asks you to verify your student status, choose Verify Eligibility or Verify Student Status. Need help?

  3. Follow the onscreen steps to verify your student status.

  4. If the verification is successful, you'll automatically return to the Apple Music app or iTunes, and continue your Apple Music student subscription.

Reverify your student status in Settings on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions.

  2. Tap Apple Music.

  3. Tap Verify Student Status. Need help?

  4. Follow the onscreen steps to verify that you’re a student.

  5. If the verification is successful, you'll see a confirmation screen.

If you need help with UNiDAYS or SheerID

  • If you're a new subscriber and see a message in the Apple Music app that your review is in progress, you can tap Get Help at the bottom of that screen to contact SheerID.

  • If your student verification process was through UNiDAYS, contact UNiDAYS Support.

If you don't reverify your student status

If you're still a student and don’t reverify your student status during the verification period, your student subscription automatically renews as an Apple Music individual subscription. If you want the discounted student subscription, you need to resubscribe as a student and go through the verification process.

If you're no longer a student or you complete 48 months of a student subscription

Your student subscription automatically renews as an Apple Music individual subscription. If you're prompted to verify your student status in the Apple Music app, choose I'm No Longer A Student.
