Publisher Description
Debbie Mason meets Lizzie Shane in this small-town romance where a burned-by-love veterinarian arranges a fake partnership with a down-on-her-luck city girl in order to save his family business.
When Amarie Walker goes for something, she goes big—including starting over. Leaving her cheating ex and entire D.C. life in the rearview, she crash lands in a small town with no plan, no money, and no job. An opening at the animal clinic is the only gig for miles, no surprise considering the vet is a certified grump. If Eli Calvary ever cracked a smile, Amarie might faint on sight from shock. At least his adorable golden retriever appreciates her fabulousness…and shares her love of daily treats!
When Eli took over his late father’s practice, he quickly discovered the clinic was facing foreclosure. So there’s no time for social niceties, especially not flirting, even with someone as gorgeous, bubbly, and business-savvy as Amarie. Yet when Eli needs to invent an investor on the fly, it’s her name that comes to his lips. Now, for the sake of their furry clients, Eli and Amarie hustle to save the clinic, trying to ignore the nonstop sparks between them. Because while their partnership may be fake, their connection already feels way too real.

London (Consuming Logan) takes readers to a quaint small town in this adorable series launch, introducing locals with big personalities and their lovable scene-stealing pets. When Amarie Walker's ancient car breaks down, leaving her stranded in Service, W.Va., she discovers that fate has landed her in a great place to start over after leaving her cheating fiancé. Though she's unable to update and print a resume, she lands a job with local veterinarian Eli Calvary through sheer force of will, insisting she can help save his family business with her savvy understanding of digital marketing and social media. The grouchy and technophobic Eli is attached to his late father's analog systems, but he reluctantly takes on Amarie with some encouragement from his mother, Leah, who sees Amarie's potential. A relentless matchmaker, Leah also sees the possibility of a love connection for her closed-off son. Amarie soon wins over the entire town—and she'll have readers just as invested as she grows into the most confident version of herself. Obstacles arise when Amalie's ex-fiancé shows up alongside Eli's ex-wife, but for the most part London keeps things light. The cast is majority Black, making this a welcome addition to the predominantly white small-town contemporary romance canon. London is sure to win fans.

Made It Through the Purple Haze…..
This was a great story and mostly well written throughout. My issue was with the beginning and the descriptive writing. There is a such thing as too much detail, too much description. I very nearly put this book down but decided to ‘stick it out’. I realized my issue may have been reading too many sub-par novels. I realized this author was attempting to power-wash the cobwebs off my very capable mind. In the end, I was thankful to Ms. London for the challenges and look forward to Noah, Tobias and Bethany’s stories!
