ELIJAH (Profiles In Courage) As Bold As Lions Podcast

Finishing out the Profiles In Courage series, we are looking at 1 Kings 18 and the encounter of Elijah with the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel. This interaction is a glimpse into the faith of one of the Old Testament's most notable prophets. Yet the Book of James reminds us "Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth." (James 5:17) As much as we may think Elijah was a super-human believer, he really had a nature just like ours.
Because of this, we can know that our faith in God to do the miraculous can and should be just like Elijah's. The God who intervened on Elijah's behalf still moves on our behalf. Elijah's faith didn't question the odds, he drew a line in the sand (trust God or not), and his obedience put God on display.
