Good read
A good read well put together. However, it could’ve ended sooner. It was a wonderful book that left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. Too much story in the end.

Disappointing
It’s stunning to me that Rachel Hawkins, the brilliant author of “The Villa” also wrote this book.
It is so shallow, the characters are not well developed, the story itself starts out interestingly enough but rapidly becomes so far fetched and completely unbelievable, convoluted, that I had trouble even finishing it
The most regrettable aspect of this book is that the raw ingredients are there…
A boat, a couple with a mysterious backstory meets another pair with a mysterious backstory and they set out to find an island paradise in the middle of the South Pacific with legends and mysteries of its own.
This could’ve been a phenomenal book.
But it isn’t.
The ending just falls apart and makes absolutely no sense.
It’s as if she just wanted to “get it done and dusted”
I had just read “The Villa” and was so excited to embark on this new journey but was sorely let down in every way by it.
Save your money.
If you want to read a great book along thee lines read “The Blue” by Lucy Clarke instead.
It’s a very similar concept but written with depth and levity.
It’s a true mystery and you don’t want it to end.
This book was a complete waste of money.
It pains me to say this because I really love her other work.
I don’t recommend
The writing is basic and reminds me of a teenage writing a drama story. Cursing, smoking pot, tattoos, mentioning dildos, etc doesn’t actually make the story interesting. The story itself should be interesting.
