The Watersons

One of the most influential groups in British folk music, the Watersons--siblings Mike, Lal, and Norma Waterson--almost single-handedly revived the traditional vocal harmony music of England and injected it with new energy. Breaking away from the more academic approach they had previously employed, the Watersons offered original compositions for the first time on the groundbreaking 1972 album BRIGHT PHOEBUS, often thought of as the Brit-folk equivalent of SGT. PEPPER. The cast of players on the album reads like a Who's Who of British folk, with contributions from Richard Thompson, Maddy Prior, and Norma Waterson's husband, the folk legend Martin Carthy.
