Publisher Description
Successful Seattle baker Alena Budrene doesn't want to die. But when she's infected with a lethal virus spread by supernatural beings, her only chance for recovery is to make a deal with the devil - or in this case, a warlock.
Though he saves her life, it looks nothing like the life she once knew - and neither does she. Alena is a new breed of "Supe" no one has ever seen before. Even the supernatural police don't know what she is. Now exiled to the northern side of the Wall, which marks the divide between humans and Supes, Alena is thrust into a dark and magical new world.
But just as she begins to adjust to all things supernatural, she realizes that her transformation is the least of her worries - and it was no accident. She was chosen...to be killed by a Greek hero trying to make a name for himself once more.
Alena was brought up to be subservient, preferring creating to fighting, and vanilla and honey to blood. But that was then. Now, to survive, she must stand up for herself - and this time she's got fangs. But will she be ready to use them?

Can it be as good as the others? Yes, yes it can!!
Venom and Vanilla - The Venom Trilogy Book 1 - by Shannon Mayer
This is book one in the new series by Shannon Mayer and I was skeptical about another new series from this author. I mean, the others are so good and I have enjoyed them sooooo much... so how could another series come along and even compete? Boy, was I wrong!! Alena is an amazing heroine and from the very first chapter, she sets out to battle not only her own doubts and fears, but the mindset of the world. She deals with betrayal and disapproval from the people closest to her, and doubt and mistrust from the new world she is thrust into. But she makes a choice to stay true to her heart and the person she truly is, and it turns into an adventure of EPIC proportions! I also really loved the Greek mythology angle of the story! This book was just one big surprise that made me love every second of the reading!! Can’t wait for Book 2!! I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and as always I would have gladly paid for it!
a ne take on Monsters vs. Gods
I received this copy via NetGalley and from the publisher in exchange for an honest review...
Shannon Mayer is brilliant... I love how she brought the Monsters vs. Greek God Heroes back to life in a new way... her way to be exact...
In Venom and Vanilla we have our main Charactr Alena Budrene who was an awesome baker and she aslo owned her own bakery. She ends up getting infected with a lethal virus and is in the Hospital with a room mate named Dahlia (who is sweet and fun)... Then there there is Merlin who is a Warlock and he has a special cure.
My favorite lines in the book are:
"Alena talking to Merlin" = "What did you do to me?"
Merlin answers = "You are me special snowflake, Alena. One of a kind, or close to it"
and this one caught my attention too...
Alena talking to her husband -" You couldn't find the "G" spot even in the Alphabet"
Will Alena take the Cure? How strong is the friendship bond between Alena and Dahlia?
If you want to know the answers you will have to get the book and find out for yourself... I did and I loved it
