Blasting forth from the urban wilds of Curitiba, Brazil, Bonde do Rolê’s Diplo-aided debut landed on an unsuspecting public in 2007—and carioca has never quite been the same. Darting briskly through samba and soca, the trio goes for pure overkill here, with Van Halen fusillades erupting on "Dança do Zumbi,” laugh-out-loud horn blasts puncturing “Gasolina,” and old-school electro lighting up “Quero te Amar,” all while MC Pedro D'Eyrot drops mad rhymes and the iron-lunged Marina Ribatski goes wild. Highlights abound, but try starting with the gloriously cheesy hair-metal bombast of “Office Boy.”
