Nick's Picks Volumes 5 and 6: "The Affair" and "Dead Dad"

Jared is busy, so Aimèe and Nick talk about two very funny (and very different) season 2 sketches from episodes that she had to miss!

"The Affair" is from season 2, episode 14 and originally aired March 19, 1991. It's a classic Bruce McCulloch filmed sketch, also featuring the second(?) appearance of Darill and a rare non-Kid lead performance by Tracy Wright.

"Dead Dad" is from season 2, episode 9 and originally aired December 4, 1990. It's a show-closing live sketch with all five of the Kids featured.

Not Kids in the Hall Fans

I appreciate a podcast exists talking about this, but Jesus H. do these twats focus too much on how the sketches are viewed in a modern lens. They’re way too critical. Somehow they are experts in how to execute comedy despite having no resume I know of that I should take anything they say seriously. Jared is especially irritating and he seems to revel in it which makes it worse.

Steer clear

It’s amazing how these three can make a podcast about one of the funniest shows on television unfunny. They monotonously bore their way through how “you couldn’t get away with that joke today” - well, of course not. The show ran from 1988 to 1995. But we also don’t need them bringing it up every minute and not letting go. They also go on and on about how they would have improved on the sketches. I mean, really?? (*Insert “Sure, Jan” GIF*)
