iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

I am having text message issues with my new iPad Pro running iPadOS 14.2. I have one member of my family that does not use an iOS device and thus uses text messages. None of his messages have appeared on my iPad since I first set it up, while my iPhone does continue to get messages. Also, the group thread I have with my entire family does not stay pinned in Messages either.

I have noticed the same no notification issue too. Luckily I have a sound on text messages. But there is a sound bug I have a sound on emails and texts. The bug is if I am touching the screen at the time an email or text comes in the sound comes in at maximum force. Very embarrassing if in a a group setting or starling in any setting. This has happened on my iPhone 12 mini on IOS 14 and my iPhone SE 2020 on IOS 13 Come on Apple, fix the sound system in IOS.

I just got off the phone with one of their senior advisors again and she told me that the engineering team wanted to replicate the issue and then run diagnostics. I told her that it was intermittent and I don't know when it was going to happen again. She said that she had said that to them before they requested it. It seems like they are not thinking.

The first time they blamed my SIM card. I said to her how can this be as there are many of us, from different carriers and probably different countries.

She also said that the engineering team doesn't put much stock in these discussions. She said that she couldn't verify even if they read these. The engineers saw this link to our discussion but she isn't sure that they even bothered to read it.

She couldn't even tell me if the fix was in the next update!

I am now demanding compensation!

Another hour and a ½ wasted that I can't get back.

I've been reading through the many many posts and see that some of us have pursued the issue with Apple Support and have Case Numbers. When I was on my (second) lengthy call with Apple Support I did mention the thread here with, at that time, over 90K views (now over 100K). My agent was interested and listened while I read some of them that were relevant to questions she had. And, just now I saw someone say the agent they talked to didn't put much stock in discussions and wasn't interested.

What I'm wondering is this --- would it be helpful (to Apple and to us) to have a list (separate thread, I'm thinking) of ONLY open case numbers referencing this issue? Then when someone is talking to Apple Support they could point to open cases? If they could put related case numbers together, perhaps that could help with problem diagnosis. What do you all think (I am not a frequent user of this Discussion forum, so I really don't know if this would be appropriate).

I saw on another stream, similar content that they linked the problem to their watch. They said when they turned off the watch the problem when away but turning the watch on again the problem returns. I tested it and found the same to be true. I have no idea why and no idea how to get around the problem but it does narrow down the issue.

THIS. I had this issue start in Feb. with the iOS update. iPhone X. I spent close to 12 hours on the phone with Apple over a two month period. I reset every setting. Logged every failure. Reset my phone. Deleted apps. Logged all phone data via an app they installed. Tried EVERYTHING. It’s still happening. They have no clue. The irony? It’s only on Apple’s messaging app. Every other app works, you know, like it’s supposed to. But not Apple’s own app.

In my case, I think it’s related to weak signal. I can still send and receive calls fine, but no text notification will ring inONE spot in my home. Works elsewhere. Oh, I *receive* the messages. Just no notification. I’ve given up on Apple. I was going to buy the 12 Pro — but seriously, if a $1200 cell phone can’t notify when it gets a text from another Apple device and it’s nearly 2021? No thanks. Totally bummed they don’t fix this. It’s fairly fundamental to function.

I have no iPhone.

I have the same issue. I’ve tried all the suggested fixes and nothing works. I rely on the notification and the buzzing to know when I have a text. It’s super annoying when I text someone and I’m waiting for a response...so then I go do something else and I get frustrated at them that they haven’t responded in a while so I go to check and I see that they responded like a minute after I texted. But then I just ended up ignoring them for like 30 minutes because I was still waiting on a response. Makes me want to go back to Android. Not having a notification even when I’m actively on my phone is stupid.

I too am having the same issues. I’m simply not receiving audio text and message notifications. Just the other day I received texts from 4 people in the same short time period; the only notifications I received came from those 2 using Android. But not all Android are getting through, I’m missing audio (and now haptic) notifications from family who use Android. Texts from iOS, have almost now chance of giving me an audio indication, and those from services/ politicians have a very good chance of showing up and interrupting what I’m doing (strangely, not Amazon, though). Location based notifications work great for Target/Walmart/Best Buy with a high level of annoyance if I fail to close those apps.

I thought the problem was with my iPad intercepting messages and texts, but iMessage has been turned off on it for the last month/month and a half.

The only change in my Apple universe was my Apple Watch battery expanded and broke in September, but I was already having issues with random notifications only appearing on the iPad. Everything else is the same (ATT and WiFi).

As for checking DND, I’m not receiving these notifications for my exclusions - those allowed to contact me after hours.

Sorry. I refuse to go “nuclear” on the phone as I had a corrupt backup when wiping/restoring the iPad in October.

I have had this issue since I upgraded to the iPhone 11 Pro Max and Watch S5. I believe it started with iOS 13. It's intermittent, but tends to mostly inoperable. Text message notifications and sometimes phone calls do not come through with the audible and visual settings set to "on," consequently, I can go long spans without notification on critical messages. It's not a reproducible error "on command," so I can't just show up at a genius bar and show them. Often, the only way I know about a message is the haptic feedback I get from my watch (also always silenced intentionally), otherwise I'd never know I've received a message without picking up the phone.

On top of this, I've experienced situations when I have the volume on the phone set to OFF and I'll get an audible text ping for a message, even though I shouldn't. Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. Glad to know finally, after over a year of this, I'm not crazy. LOL.

Here’s what sometimes worked for me . If I click on the person’s name and then on info , I check if hide alert is not toggled on . Also sometimes I go to notification settings for Message ( or any other message app) and toggle it off and back on them restart phone . Worked for me but bug comes back after a few weeks and I redo the steps again . It’s obviously a software bug
