Publisher Description

"Remarkable, not-to-be-missed-under-any-circumstances."—Entertainment Weekly (Grade A)

The Passage meets Ender's Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it's the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth's last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie's only hope for rescuing her brother--or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Great read, odd non-ending....

Had I known this was a prequel or part of a saga, I wouldn't be so disappointed. I loved the writing style and story but it ends -- in my opinion -- in the middle. I hate reading books like this without forewarning because it takes me back to my Harry Potter-salivating-with-anticipation days! Had I known this I would have waited before biting into the first book, giving the author time to catch up with my Need to Know More syndrome. It's a really good read...just disappointed with the non-conclusive ending. If its Part I, no problem. But then please call it Part I!

The 5th Wave

Interesting but ending leaves you hanging.

Wow!

I'm blown away and begging for more. Even though I just finished it, I'll probably start reading it again right away. The review that led me to read the book in the first place compared it to Ender's Game; high praise in my book as a former English teacher. It didn't disappoint. The writing style is refreshing, using references that clearly speak to the current generation, never failing to point out the ironic humor that arises even during trying times. I'd strongly recommend it to anyone.
