This is Episode 75 of the VulnerABLE Podcast!

In 2013 she would lose her only son, the grief and pain of it would affect her in more ways than she could imagine. Now she's helping families realize how important appreciating their time together is!

Growing up she faced bullying and teasing just like most of us do, and it would continue up until high school when she finally started to come into her own. But the vulnerability she would face in 2013 would change everything, from her marriage, to her health and eventually her career. That’s because the day after Christmas that year she would lose her only son in an ATV accident. He was only 15 years old, the grief and pain of his loss was more than enough to deal with, but she also had to deal with the vulnerability of people not knowing what to do or say. It’s taken a toll on her physically, and it’s taken years to find a doctor who could see it that way. Now she’s doing her best to find purpose behind his passing by helping families recognize the importance of appreciating each other, in all the big and small ways.

Episode 74 - May Kesler - From Growing Up Dealing With Trauma To Helping People Heal Their Pain

This is Episode 74 of the VulnerABLE Podcast!

She grew up with parents who survived the holocaust, and would lose her mother in her teens, she's faced her share of trauma and loss. Now she's helping people work on their physical pain and find more joy!

Both her parents survived the holocaust, but growing up she didn’t exactly understand the pain and trauma her parents carried. Reflecting back she carries a lot of guilt for some of the ways she acted, and took things for granted. At 12 years old her mother would be diagnosed with breast cancer, and at that time it was something that wasn’t as understood and people carried a lot of shame towards it. She would lose her mother about 5 years later, which brought a whole new set of challenges to her life. Throughout her late teens and early 20s she endured multiple sexual assaults, and would hold onto that pain in fear of judgement from others. The only thing she can attribute to helping her through it all is something she learned from her mother, grit. Now as a physical therapist, and dancer she’s helping people of all ages overcome their pain, and find more joy in their lives.

Episode 73 - Janine Wirth - From Growing Up In Trauma To Helping Women Overcome Their Own And Find Success

This is Episode 73 of the VulnerABLE Podcast!

She grew up in a traumatic home, this would create trust issues and cause her to hold onto her pain for many years. Now as a therapist she's helping other women work through their own trauma and find success!

Growing up her parents argued a lot, and at times even threw things at each other. To cope with it she would dig her head into her books and gain a lot of independence at an early age. It created trust issues, and made her build walls to avoid letting anyone in. Then at 18 she was car jacked, kidnapped and almost raped at gun point. This would be a breaking point for her, and she would decide to finally seek help from a therapist. Years later, after starting a family, a friend on their death bed would remind her that she needed to chase her dreams because we never know when our time will come. With the support of her family she would go back to school to become a therapist herself, as she had always been fascinated with psychology. Now she’s helping women heal from their trauma, and work towards the spectacular success they’ve always dreamed of.

Episode 70 - Alison Pena - From Grieving Her Husband The "Wrong" Way To Becoming The Bad Widow

Episode 70 - Alison Pena - From Grieving Her Husband The "Wrong" Way To Becoming The Bad Widow

This is Episode 70 of the VulnerABLE Podcast!

When the sudden passing of her husband happened, instead of help and support she was told she was grieving the "wrong" way. Now as the Bad Widow, she's helping others grieve their loss in a better way!

She grew up with 3 younger brothers, one of which had a genetic disease which meant they needed to be careful around him even though they weren’t sure why. Then when she was 25 years old her brother would pass away, and she was left feeling a bit lost because for many years the attention was on him. It caused her to begin looking at the world and life a different way, which kind of isolated her from her peers. At the same time it caused her to be empathetic towards others at a very early age. Years later her husband of almost 20 years would be diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. The end of his life was approaching suddenly, this forced them to begin taking chances, and live life as fully as possible until he was gone. Then after his passing she found the grieving process very difficult and was surprised to find very little support or information on how to process what she was going through. She was told she was doing things wrong, and she gave herself the name Bad Widow. Now she’s using her experience and things she learned in the process to help others grieve difficult loses in their own lives.
