Publisher Description

From the moment Julie sees her best friend, Gavin, in the airport, it’s like no time at all has gone by. No matter how long they’ve been apart, their relationship has always been steady, comfortable, and decidedly “just friends.” Of course, that’s not stopping their meddling parents from hanging unlimited amounts of mistletoe everywhere she goes this holiday season.

Gavin is all too aware of their family’s matchmaking intentions. Still, he’s been happy to keep things in the friend zone. As the new starting quarterback for the San Antonio Mustangs, he’s got enough on his plate without adding romance to the mix.

But somewhere between dressing up as elves, nights watching com-coms, and heating things up in the town’s hot springs, Julie and Gavin wonder if they’ve landed right in the middle of a “reverse parent trap.” But falling for their parents’ scheming might involve one trap too many…

Holiday fun

The Mistletoe Trap was such a fun holiday read and definitely did the job of getting me in the holiday spirit!!

I loved Julie and Gavin. They are the best of friends but I loved this wasn’t like most friends-to-lovers stories (my favorite!!) I usually read. This isn’t one of those books where these characters have been fighting the attraction for years and years and years. It was one of those organic growths of a relationship that I absolutely love with all of the typical ‘will this ruin what we have’ angst.

I wasn’t at all a fan of either of their families since they seemed too toxic and enmeshed to ever come close to healthy but that didn’t stop me from truly enjoying this book and how Gavin and Julie ended up with their own HEA.

The Mistletoe Trap

A solid 10 gold stars!!!! LOVED IT!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This book was so hilariously funny that I had to stop at certain parts and get the giggles out! There were other times when a character was having an internal dialogue with them self that I really felt connected to them. I would have said the same "things" if I were in the situation. It was great. I really felt I was right there as the characters felts so real. I loved the dual POV format.

Julie and Gavin grew up together as best friends. Their parents were best friends as soon as they met. The families were so close that they did a great deal together. The two mothers were a crack up with their shenanigans. Gavin is the QB for a NFL team, the Mustangs. Unfortunately he injured his shoulder and the team gave him extra time over the Christmas holiday to recover. Julie is a pathologist and lives in Arizona. The two don't see a great deal of each now face-to-face but talk, text and video chat almost daily.

This coming together of two life long best friends is a MUST read for anyone over the age of 18. There is a sexy scene that may offend. If you don't mind, then I would highly recommend this Christmas themed friends-to-lovers. You will not regret it.

Fun read

3.5 stars

I love Cindi Madsen, holiday romance, sports heroes and friends to lovers romances. This book should be the perfect storm for me, and I liked it a lot, but a few things bugged me enough to make me set the book down a time or two.
First off, I love Gavin and Julie but she has some serious lack of self esteem. I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence or just a new theme in romance, these women, like Julie, need to ignore their jerk face exes and own their wonderful selves! While I saw tons of friendship chemistry between these two, the insta-spark wasn’t very strong for me. Maybe it was because of their so-over-the-top moms and their constant pushiness. Honestly, it got annoying pretty quickly...like Hallmark movie annoying. If you like that sort of thing, you’ll love this book!
The dialogue and humor is awesome and they seem like people I’d want to hang out and be friends with. But something was missing for me to take this story and put it in my love column. Still a good read from a favorite author.
