What next for sensational Sainz? - 2024 Australian GP Review

No appendix. No problem. Carlos Sainz capitalised on Max Verstappen’s first DNF in two years to win the Australian Grand Prix in his first race back since having surgery for appendicitis.

In the Melbourne paddock, Tom Clarkson is joined by 1996 World Champion Damon Hill and Australia’s Channel 10 Grand Prix broadcast team - Scott MacKinnon, Richard Craill, Sam Power and Tim McDonald – to discuss how Sainz made such a remarkable comeback and whether he now has the edge on Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc.

Lando Norris claimed McLaren’s first podium of 2024 but could he have pipped Leclerc to P2? Is Daniel Ricciardo stuck in a rut after being outperformed by Yuki Tsunoda again? And were Williams right or wrong to give Logan Sargeant’s car to Alex Albon after the latter crashed his in practice?

As well as the top three, you’ll hear reaction from Max Verstappen and RB Team Principal, Laurent Mekies. Plus, we discuss a double points finish for Haas and that dramatic last-lap crash for George Russell, which saw Fernando Alonso demoted to P8 with a 20-second penalty.

Has potential

This could be a great podcast, but Natalie Pinkham ruins it a bit by trying too hard. Tom & Damon are great on it.

pestered was already taken! ,

Mouthpiece for F1

Anyone that thinks this is impartial broadcasting is kidding themselves. Take the podcast post Abu Dhabi 2021 as an example. A decision made by the race director that was unprecedented, changed the outcome of a race. The presenters of the podcast don’t discuss it! Regardless of whether you got the outcome you wanted, you still listen to these podcasts for the discussion. If you want to listen to quality broadcasting with impartial debate, there are better podcasts.

So if you think this podcast is biased British journalism, think about who commissions the podcast, before making you racist comments.
