Get ready to EXPAND your mind! The word NEUROQUEER goes beyond the intersection of neurodiversity and queerness. Neuroqueering is the practice of queering (subverting, defying, disrupting, liberating oneself from) neuronormativity, cisnormativity, and heteronormativity, and more!Through the lens of the neurodiversity paradigm and the social model and in conversations with neurodiversity-affirming professionals, we are going to challenge, rethink, and reframe systems and institutions. We are going to talk about accessibility and ableism, inclusion and belonging, and ways we can lean into curiosity and compassion at work, home, and in our communities. Neuroqueering is also about being in our pleasure, tapping into comedy and creativity, so we hope these conversations are educational, engaging, and entertaining.  This podcast is hosted by Pasha Marlowe (she/they), MFT, marriage and family therapist turned neurodivergent coach,  queer autistic ADHDer, mama bear to 3 neurodivergent humans, and someone who gets instantly bored if they are not learning and unlearning.

I am excited to welcome Nigel Rising, Esq. (she/her) to my "Neuroqueering" podcast today for a lively conversation about the late in life diagnosed/discovered autistic experience, including how autism effects relationships and the new ways we interact with the world post diagnosis.

With a special lens on the autistic woman and non-binary experience, we discuss queer partnership dynamics, friendships, and increased suicide rates and what Nigel plans to do about it.

Nigel shares her experience as a brown woman in therapy and what inspired her to create the first ever AutisticaPalooza, a conference for autistic women and non-binary folks coming October 2024! I will be speaking about autistic relationships!

Ep #100: "The Future of Work is Neuroinclusion and Accessibility" with Jamie Shields

Ep #100: "The Future of Work is Neuroinclusion and Accessibility" with Jamie Shields

I am celebrating my 100th podcast episode (Neuroqueering and Let Pleasure Be the Measure combined) with one of my new favorite people and the inspiration for my future work as I lean into creating cultures of neuroinclusion and accessibility.  All the way from northern Ireland, welcome Jamie Shields!

Jamie Shields is a registered blind AuDHD speaker, trainer, and consultant, who works with individuals and brands, helping them make inclusive accessible change.  He is also the creator of Disabled by Society.

Jamie and I talk about DEIB, including the concept of neurobelonging, an internal sense of belonging and self-acceptance.

I ask "How do we get leaders of organizations to care about disability and accessibility before it is their own lived experience?" This leads to an important conversation about power, privilege, anger,  ableism, discrimination, neurodiversity, and the importance of inclusive language.

#33: "IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy effectiveness for neurodivergent minds"

#33: "IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy effectiveness for neurodivergent minds"

In today's "Neuroqueering" podcast, Ellie Carn (she/they), psychotherapist, and host Pasha Marlowe (she/they), marriage and family therapist and coach, explain what IFS (Internal Family Systems/"parts" work) is and why it is so effective for neurodivergent minds, especially those with ADHD and autism. Ellie begins with an overview and history of IFS then describes what the therapeutic process of parts work looks like.
Ellie shares how traditional therapy models are often pathologizing and ableist, whereas, IFS is beneficial for neurodivergent people as it is empowering, playful, guided by the client, and creates space to "meet clients where they are at". Ellie even ponders if "parts work" is, in essence, unmasking. Pasha and Ellie conclude by encouraging listeners to try many different therapists and therapy modalities.

Ep. #32 "Building Psychological Safety Nets at Work"

Ep. #32 "Building Psychological Safety Nets at Work"

In psychologically safe workplaces, people feel safe voicing their opinions about conflict and mistakes-without the fear of negative consequences. Leaders need to be brave-brave enough to invite open and honest feedback. Leaders need to hear what’s really going on, so dysfunctional and unhealthy patterns can be interrupted and problems can be solved.
But only when the most vulnerable team members, those with the most intersecting marginalized identities, feel free enough to express their thoughts and feelings, is an organization psychologically safe enough for everyone to thrive.

In this episode, Pasha talks about the cultural transformation that occurs when you intend to create psychologically safe spaces. She also talks about the term "safe space" and how we can never guarantee safety for all. Finally, she offers a framework to build "psychological safety nets" through the lens of intersectionality and inclusion.

Please reach out to Pasha if you would like to hire her as a coach, consultant, or speaker at pasha@pashamarlowe.com
She looks forward to helping you.

#30 "Framework to Support Neurodivergent and Queer People" with Pasha Marlowe

#30 "Framework to Support Neurodivergent and Queer People" with Pasha Marlowe

Part 2 of the Neuroqueering and Neurobelonging discussion

This episode provides practical tools and a complete framework for supporting neurodivergent and queer people. The skills you learn today will help ALL leaders (parents, teachers, coaches, and therapists) be neurodiversity-affirming and gender- affirming.
Pasha shares the framework that was presented at the international ADHD conference that includes intersectionality, asking, affirming, and advocating. Concepts of psychological safety, non-apparent disability, inclusive design, and safe space are explored.
Pasha states "Unless you intentionally include, you will unintentionally exclude" and encourages people to "drop the disorder" from our language.
If you want to dig deeper into the concepts of the neurodiversity paradigm, psychological safety, inclusive language, and dual stigma, please listen to Part 1, entitled "Neurobelonging and the Neurodiversity Paradigm".

Please reach out to Pasha with any questions or to discuss these concepts further at pasha@pashamarlowe.com

Never a dull moment…

The title caught my attention.
After listening to several episodes, I realized I could relate to at least something in just about each episode and this got me hooked.
For anyone anywhere on the neurodiversity spectrum, this show is highly recommended.

Love the authentic, raw and important message that Pasha shares. She makes me feel excited to keep peeling the layers back to get to who I really am. I don’t feel so alone. Thank you for your vulnerability and creativity!

Pelvic Wisdom ,

This show is vulnerable in all the right ways!

This podcast always makes me smile and laugh while learning about pleasure, a subject matter that I think is difficult to cover! Pasha is a brilliant host and is able to weave humor perfectly throughout this show while holding space for deep meaningful conversations.
