AdGuard — adblock&privacy 4+

Works a treat

Great Adblocker, does what it sets out to do…. One thing I’d like to see though is cloud syncing between devices for my custom list and element blocking rules.
Unfortunately, when used alongside the Adguard VPN the system wide blocking is not as good as either Nord (Cyber threat) or Surfshark (Clean web), with a lot of app ads getting through which the others block.
If it wasn’t for the app ads getting through I would happily use both the adblock and VPN apps together as I have a lifetime membership but both Nord and Surfshark win on this front.
Hopefully Adguard will implement something similar and more robust than the current offering soon to put them on a par with the other big players.
One final point, in my previous review I stated that the VPN was extremely slow when compared with other similar services. This seems to have been addressed and whilst it’s still not quite as fast as the others the speeds have improved a lot.
Please implement something similar, that works as well as Cyber Threat or Cleanweb, and I can go “all in” with Adguard.

Increasingly unreliable

Constantly causes the internet connection to freeze and I’d have to turn Wi-Fi off and on again to reconnect or disable DSN protection. Many obvious scam ads and spoof website get through even when it is supposedly working and despite all protection methods and filters being switched on. The VPN companion app is also just as unreliable. Particularly the UK servers. I don’t think I’ll be renewing either of my two subscriptions. I can work around occasional downtime or glitches. But this is now happening consistently, multiple times a day. Not acceptable.

UPDATE: thank you for your response. But I’m afraid I can offer nothing that you already haven’t heard from others. A Quick Google search verifies that this is a widespread issue. As I said, I understand occasional issues. For example, your DNS servers stopped working for a couple of days about a month or so ago. It happens. I get it. And I can live with it if it’s a handful of times a year. But not when it’s almost a daily occurrence. I've got about six months or so left on my subscription. Hopefully, things will get better by then and I'll be more than happy to reconsider and renew.

Think this needs to be mentioned

It would be great for this app to work 100% of the time, unfortunately there are problems. However these problems usually are because it hasn’t loaded properly and are fixed by turning it on or off a few times or clearing your open apps and browsing history. It’s an inconvenience for sure, but when it works it works well! You have to remember this app is trying to compete and problem solve new technologies made by huge corporations like Meta etc constantly. They need to do all this research and resolving quickly to get it out ASAP. Play around with it. Once it works, you can leave it and it’ll not need touching untill these companies find a work around the ad block, which then AdGuard would need to find a solution to bypass again. Data collection and ads are a constant developing technology.
