The Pledge Podcast

The Pledge Podcast explores political activism through short audio portraits. We call it The Pledge because it celebrates activism as a commitment to the hard work of democracy. Making this pledge means taking risks, speaking out, working hard and fighting day after day. It’s not easy, and success is often slow and never guaranteed. But making a commitment—a pledge—can motivate us to stay engaged for the long haul, which is the only way to truly make change.

I just binged the entire 2nd “Pledge” season. Whoa, whoa, whoa. What a comfort, to hear uplifting stories of regular people making a difference. These are stories that give you hope and right now, we need this message and energy more than ever before. This series is so impactful. It is deeply motivating to show evidence of regular people deciding to take action. Anyone who listens will feel an immediate urgency to get on out there and make some good trouble. If you think you could be doing more, this is your roadmap for where to start.

If you are a white person, well educated and consider yourself well informed - please invest a few minutes. You will appreciate the quality of the storytelling, especially this episode in season 2. I bet you’ll feel a little fire alight inside you. I have listened to this podcast since the beginning. I am blown away by this episode. Will re-listen. Many times. These struggles are about so much more than a name change. I have seen it in my own community, Brookline MA, which tried to change the name of a school. Thank you for telling these great stories. And the next episode!!Soup heals!!!

Allison tells the stories of people pledging to improve democracy with humility and conviction. She clearly demonstrates the same passion as the people she interviews. I am already looking forward to season 3!

This is a good enough podcast that I can listen to the full 15-20 minutes without wanting to talk back to it and considering my mother's the podcaster, that's saying a lot! Great work, Mom!
