Enjoying these immensely. I’m one of the retired group that will need to reprogram my breathing. No problem, at my age I’m constantly ‘reprogramming’ something. A couple of first-class players talking in depth about their subject, well worth listening to.
Fascinating insight into the fundamentals of blues harmonica playing
As someone who has played diatonic harmonica for 55 years and would consider myself to be fairly adept on the instrument, I have found this series of podcasts to be absolutely fascinating. When I started learning there was no one to show me what to do, nothing except listening to recordings over and over again and trying to figure out what to do to sound like my heroes. I now realise there are some fundamental flaws in my technique that I need to address. I would like to thank Lee and Joe for really breaking down the basics of blues harmonica playing and pointing the way forward. As Captain Beefheart said ‘This ain’t no toy,’ and its lovely to hear two people who share my passion for the instrument really getting down to what makes it work so wonderfully, not only for blues but for all kinds of music.
Well done guys. I look forward to the live event on Sept 26th and to further instalments of ‘The Reedplate.’
