Impeach My Bush (Bonus Track Version) [Expanded Edition]

Shock-rock-rapper Peaches doesn’t get shy for her third album. “Two Guys (for Every Girl)” and “Tent In Your Pants” define her as someone looking to get in your face at any cost. The 39-year old Canadian artiste (born Merrill Nisker) uses these attention-grabbing gimmicks along with electroclash beatbox beats, chintzy keyboard squawks and some exciting punk rock power chords to make her points stick. “Boys Wanna Be Her,” “Do Ya” and “Get It” (with a near mock-Zeppelin riff circulating) come rampaging out of the speakers with none of the finesse that current day emo-punk bands now employ. Peaches isn’t about being easy on the ears, after all. While her first two albums were recorded on her own, for Impeach My Bush Peaches enlists co-producer Mickey Petralia (Beck, Eels), who adds live drums and guitars, and makes her guests – Joan Jett, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme – feel right at home. It’s still Peaches show and there’s still a primitive lo-fi buzz transmitting through many of the album’s tracks. But dare it be suggested that this time around she’s refined her sound ever so slightly.
