Two albums in, Ostura are showing themselves to be a four-piece that refuses to play it safe. The studio endeavours by the self-described cinematic prog-rockers from Lebanon are a testament to the fact. Their debut LP, Ashes of the Reborn (2013), embodied the band’s passion for intricate concepts and elaborate storytelling, set amid soaring vocals and waves of jagged guitar. Five years in the making, their second studio effort The Room offers slickly produced and sonically charged statement tracks, like the thundering “Only One” and the strings-heavy “Deathless”, complete with dizzying time signatures, stunning orchestral arrangements and illustrious guest appearances. Ostura are a group of inspired musicians who live and breathe ambition—and they’re only just getting started.
