About Crippled Black Phoenix

Crippled Black Phoenix is an experimental post-rock musical collective with a dark and distinctive sound rooted in multiple underground rock subgenres. Founded in 2004 by Justin Greaves of Electric Wizard and Iron Monkey and Mogwai bassist Dominic Aitchison, the band has featured nearly 30 members in its rotating roster, with Greaves serving the only constant tenure. CBP is known for their captivating live performances, which employ a breadth of modern and traditional instrumentation, and acclaimed, wide-ranging studio efforts like 2010's progressive-leaning I, Vigilante, 2016's heavy and melodic Bronze, and 2020's melancholic Ellengæst. In 2024, the group celebrated their 20th anniversary with the double-LP Wolf Changes Its Fur But Not Its Nature.
