We all need a menace
I’m going to say what I’ve seen many say before that Renegade is the favorite MTF. Renegade was a filthy talking bad boy who had the hots for the woman of his dreams and she was older and he finally showed her what a real man was. That being said Menace is no exception, he really knows how to love his woman.
What I loved about this one was that this story wasn’t a slow burn at all. Menace knew what he wanted and went for it feet first. The passion between Mason and Karina was some of the best I’ve seen on the page in a very long time. From their very first date they were so attracted to one another they couldn’t even make it home.
That type of blind passion is what makes me swoon and fall deeper and deeper in love with romance novels everyday. The world of Laurel Springs is a special place and I can’t wait until I have my lifetime forever romance. I realize that it may not be novel worthy but Madam Briscoe’s heroes have set the bar pretty freaking high!!
Also, I absolutely adore the text messages. They are an absolute gem and a lot of these characters relationships grow over the phone because their jobs require so much of their time.
I cannot wait to continue this journey with the MTF and see what happens next !!.

I read the original story years ago. I jumped at the chance to receive an ARC of this special edition. Boy I had forgotten how much I loved this story. While all of the books in this series are awesome, there is just something about Mason's (Menace) story that touches something in my heart. I think I was really drooling over Mason and his relationship with his son.
Mason is a single father. He was only 16 when his girlfriend got pregnant. Soon after the birth of his son, Caleb, Maggie, his girlfriend left. She couldn't handle the responsibilities of a baby. Mason grew up quick and sacrificed for his son. As Caleb is a senior and will be heading off to college after graduation, Mason is at odds with himself. Caleb sets him up on a local dating site. There he meets a young woman. They meet at a restaurant in Birmingham. The sparks lit up between them and continued after dinner in the back seat of his Jeep.
The woman hustles away after the deed and doesn't return either his calls or texts. They only exchanged first names so there is no way for him to track her down. After a week he can't figure out what he could have done wrong to be ghosted. Mason goes to his son's school to tell one of the classes about his job. It is there that he sees her! It turns out that Karina lives in Laurel Springs and teaches his son at the local high school!
Karina is scared of the depth of feelings that Mason brought out in her. She never felt like that before and she had previously been engaged (and then dumped) by the jerk.
Can these two navigate their way through the messy situation? Can Karina and Caleb accept each other? There are many more questions to get through in this story. It is one that just touched my heart and got me a little depressed when the story ended.
This is written in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the main characters' thoughts really help me to fully understand and connect to the characters so much better.
While this is a part of a series, you don't have to read the prior ones to fully understand this couple's journey. I would highly recommend it though as all of the prior characters make multiple appearances and there is an understory of moonshine in the school.
This is a very sexy story so I would just put that word of caution of there.
Menace Special Edition
This series was the first one I read by this author. These special editions with the slice of life and text messages in them are everything. I absolutely loved Karina, Mason and Caleb together. The way they met on the dating app and their first date was sizzling hot. I would definitely recommend these special edition books of the Moonshine Task Force. Amazing characters that will make you swoon and fantastic storylines that will pull at your heartstrings.
