About Caroline Polachek

Caroline Polachek emerged from the early-2000s Brooklyn indie-rock scene with the synth-pop group Chairlift before turning full-time to a solo career in 2017 when the band dissolved. • Chairlift released three LPs, two EPs, and a dozen singles between 2007 and 2016. • In 2008, Polachek teamed with members of Au Revoir Simone and Class Actress in the all-female choir Girl Crisis, which covered songs by Black Sabbath, Nirvana, and The Bangles, among others. • Polachek began performing as a solo artist in 2013 and released her first solo album, Arcadia, under the name Ramona Lisa in 2014. She made the album entirely on her laptop, inspired by living in Rome for an artist residency. • She released her second solo album, Drawing the Target Around the Arrow, in 2017 under the moniker CEP—her initials—before using her own name for her acclaimed 2019 album Pang. • Along with contributing vocals to songs by Blood Orange and Charli XCX, Polachek cowrote and coproduced “No Angel” for Beyoncé, who included the song on her Grammy-nominated self-titled 2015 album.
