All the emotions, the connections and the love
I loved Wren and Barrett’s workplace, second chance, secret crush romance. And the feels - definitely expect them - you’ll swoon, grit your teeth, snort laugh, groan, cry, and cheer. I am a sucker for the characters who just want to be loved but are just so uncomfortable in their own skin that they are not sure that they are lovable. Wren and Barrett are so lovable and relatable in their awkward, bruised insides but doing their best to fake it way. “You can be smart and successful and handsome, and still feel like you’re on the outside looking in. And that’s a hard feeling.” Wren and Barrett have been friends and coworkers for years but one intense steamy encounter results in him running from the scene and her taking a three month overseas sabbatical. When Wren returns they’ll need to figure things out and deal with all their baggage to get to their HEA. This was a beautifully crafted story of love, acceptance, joy, and laughter as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, weird pets, painful pasts, supportive family and friends, missteps, gossips, fears, and swoony love. The book is well written with witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. Definitely a fun and heartwarming read. I am looking forward to more stories about the McGuire brothers. 4.5 stars.

This book is so fun, and not what I expected! My favorite part, other than the amazing amount of love between the MCs, is the dog. Of course. Lili writes the best pets!
