When Josette needs help finding a stash of French gold believed lost in the Highlands, she turns to Will Mackenzie, the most cunning, devious, and clever man she knows. But trusting Will with her secrets is akin to trusting the devil himself.
They've worked together in the past, pretending to be man and wife to ferret out information, and the venture did not end well. Will is dangerous, and so is his life, and danger is not what Josette needs.
But she knows the real reason she's avoided him is because he's Will Mackenzie, the golden-eyed, red-haired, unpredictable man with warm hands that bring her to life. Will has more secrets than Josette ever can fathom, and the most dangerous thing of all is that he's already stolen her heart.

A good addition to a great series
Lord Will Mackenzie listed dead to the world, now a ghost in the highlands reaping justice for the injustice done to the people of Scotland.
Josette Oswald once a model for the painters in France has been in love with Will Mackenzie since the day he walked in on his brother Alex painting Josette. Will would pass in and out of her life, she even would sometimes help him in his intel gathering. Wanting Josette safe Will set her and Glenna up in London with a boardinghouse to make a living.
Josette needs him to help her and a group of Scots women to find the lost gold said to be somewhere in Scotland. When they go undercover as a previous played couple Josette makes it known it will be hands off. If not she looses all sense when he touches her.
When Josette learned more of Will secrets and plans she more determined to keep him at arms length, if it was only that simple because with the bad also comes the knowledge of the truly good man that is Will Mackenzie.
The more Will is with Josette he knows that he can truly never leave her behind again, now he just has to convince Josette to take a chance on him.
I loved how strong willed Josette was and that she loved Will so much but would let him go for her own good. If he could not settle down and stay in one place, she would leave. She needed stability for her and her daughter Glenna.
