Daisy Carver
Who knew a wardrobe malfunction would change the trajectory of my life? My father is the VP of the Dogs of Fire MC and I’ve grown up believing that I was destined to fall in love and marry a biker of my very own, but a pair of patent leather pants and a broken zipper changed all that.
Huck Wilton
I was a starting rookie for the Hurricanes, but my NHL career ended before it even had a chance to begin. Now I’m back home, licking my wounds, and trying to figure out what the hell I’m supposed to do with my life.
But then my sister’s sexy neighbor walked into my life and I have to peel her out of her pants… literally… and I now know exactly what my destiny is. I’m just not sure if it’ll lead to my ruin.

So excited for the return of this series!
So excited for the return of this series! Daisy is a true MC princess, wanting to have her own space while also being ingrained in the MC life, and always thought she would end up with a brother like the ones she has grown up around her entire life. All that changes when she meets her neighbor’s brother, and the initial chemistry is off the charts. Huck is staying with his sister while he rehabs his hockey injury as the breakout star of the sport, but the injury is potentially devastating for his career, so he’s hiding at his sister’s place to figure out his next move. Everything changes for him when he meets Daisy and is instantly hooked and wanting to do things and put himself in situations to protect her that he has never felt the need to do before. I loved the dynamic between him and her family – her brothers did not go easy on him, and he stood his ground to ensure that she gets the respect she deserves. I also love how protective she is over him – she spares nothing to find out more about his injury and go off the hunch that things weren’t actually how they seemed. Throwing in the typical MC drama that somehow doesn’t come from the MC this time, I couldn’t get enough of this book and these characters, and I can’t wait to see this next generation!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Huck and Daisy are perfection
I knew Road to Ruin would be good because it was written by Piper Davenport and she never disappoints. I knew it would be exciting because it combines two of my favorite genres, MC and Hockey. I knew Road to Ruin would feel like going home because the Dogs of Fire have a special place in my heart. What I didn't realize is how difficult it would be to move on after reading Road to Ruin.
I have read nothing in the past two days since reading Road of Ruin's fantastic ending. The happily ever after was so touching, so intense that I didn't want to say goodbye. I didn't want to let the feeling go. Huck worked so hard to win Daisy over after all of his clueless male mistakes. Huck deserved more than three seconds of worship.
I didn't expect to see Huck as an underdog. He was just too nice to think someone could do anything has terrible as destroy his career. He was concentrating on getting back on the ice, controlling the puck and not watching his back. His values had him protecting, not realizing he needed protecting. Stepping in to protect Daisy changes everything.
Daisy is a biker princess in the Dogs of Fire, Portland chapter. She is a computer genius but clueless about hockey. Her not knowing Huck was the beginning of a beautiful love story.
Their beginning is filled with suspense. Daisy saw it first. Huck's attack on the ice was a hit, not an accident. It was blatant violence that all had ignored. That was just the beginning. The clock is ticking. Will they find who is after Huck before it is too late. Those he loves are at risk, including Daisy.
10/23/24 I went to bed with Huck and had the best night. Such a great romance.
Highly recommended
I really enjoy books by this author. I notice myself with a grin while reading the banter between characters, and this book was no different. The chemistry between not just the main couple, but peripheral people in their lives is why I like it so much. There is a bit of intrigue and danger, a little insta-love, and some fun. It leaves me excited for more in the future.
