"Part travel memoir, part anthropological study, [Pike] captures the hopefulness of childhood & the magic of believing." —Harper's Bazaar
Signe Pike left behind a career in Manhattan to undertake a magical journey in search of something to believe in again. In a sweeping tour through England, Ireland, Scotland, and beyond, she takes readers to dark glens and abandoned forests, ancient sacred sites, and local pubs, seeking those who might still believe in the mysterious beings we've relegated to the dusty corners of our childhood imaginations: Faeries. But as Signe attempts to connect with the spirit world, she'll come to view herself and the world around her in a profoundly new way.
Engaging and full of heart, Faery Tale is more than a memoir--it's the story of rekindling the spark of belief that makes even the most skeptical among us feel like a kid again.

Enchanting
Enchanting. A remarkable journey that makes you believe in magic again.
Really enjoyed this book.
I rather liked the light way the author wrote this book. I get the sense that this is how she speaks as well. I felt as if I were part of her journey and experiencing each "adventure" with her as she uncovered them for herself.
I also appreciated that this book isn't just filled with fantastic stories. She did her research and tells you about it. I loved reading the folklore and her experience of it - even if it didn't turn out "well" for her.
I read this book quickly - only took about ten days. So it won't tax your brain with ideas that are hard to understand. Well done Signe!!
Love this book!
I was totally caught up in the book from chapter one and it only gets more interesting as she goes along on her travels. You'll feel her fear as she sits on a toilet in the dark (lol) waiting to see an Alux and be in awe as she visits various faerie sites and even meets Brian Frouds! If you feel the call of the Fae, trust me you should give this book a chance
