Beautifully Caricatured

It resumes quite well some aspect of what being French means. I am a French speaker but this book taught me that there is more than words behind one country language. The legacy behind it is so rich, being able to speak one language doesn't make it fully knowledgeable. The history of a country, the way it's government works and the way it's people think articulate the French language.

Excellent for understanding the French mindset and cultural values

I read most of this book while studying abroad in Paris for 6 weeks, and it was extremely helpful in understanding the fundamental principles behind French language, culture, and politics and how history, geography, etc. have played a part in shaping these principles. There's a good amount on the structure and function of the État Français, which I found to be a little exhaustive but nonetheless interesting when considering the reasons behind the differences between the structure of the French and US governments.
