Neopets: Faerie Fragments 9+

A simple puzzle game that's given me hours of entertainment. I LOVE that it's ad-free, as I feel that's quite rare for free apps these days. However, it is still fairly buggy. I've only had the game crash a few times. But I get server connection errors often enough to be frustrating. No one likes losing progress. Easy 5 stars if they manage to fix the bugs. I intend to keep playing for the site rewards regardless. 👍

(Although I'm a little salty the site started quests that give out a faerie paintbrush to new players for beating level 10 maybe a week after I started playing, whilst everyone else has to beat level 350 to get one. 🥲 I'll get one eventually... roughly 200 levels to go!)

I’m usually not one for a negative review but I have tried to be extremely patient over the several months this game has been out and that patience has not been rewarded. The only thing that has kept me going this far is the on site rewards. I’ve progressed very far in the game with just over 400 levels, but really I’ve probably beaten closer to 800 with how many instances I have lost all my progress while playing levels. It is near constant that the game will randomly lose server connection and not save my progress. The game will not warn me this has happened while I play levels but only once I interact with a multiplayer element. Only recently has the warning when disconnected mentioned progress won’t be saved. And luckily! If I happened to activate any time based bonuses while connected those will happily be consumed while I stay disconnected. I cannot imagine a satisfying game where after effort and persistence to beat a particularly hard level, there is a 50/50 chance that victory doesn’t count! And the failures consuming power ups and materials are that much more bitter when victory doesn’t come because there game is buggier than the roach motel. I’m off to satisfy my match 3 addiction with another game and keep my neopets play on the website.

This game is extremely glitchy. There is a glitch where the pet bomb meter is missing and it will look like the pet is ready to throw a bomb, but it won’t let you activate it. It is so frustrating. It happens every few games. I have lost so many games and streaks because of it.

I also agree with another reviewer about it being overstimulating. I hate that it immediately gives you hints, and in a way that is really distracting and hard to ignore. I want to play the game, not just press my phone screen where you tell me to. Hints are okay, but they don’t need to be immediate and don’t make them so distracting.

And reading through these reviews is HILARIOUS. There are obviously a ton of fake reviews. The reviews themselves sound like they were all written by a Neopets PR person. But it’s super obvious based off the user names. The oldest reviewers all have normal usernames, and then you get to a bunch with seemingly random letters essentially. You’re really gonna tell me that ‘kuaaiachakaia07’ and ‘kuraiaokakaia07’ are two different, real, human beings that happened to review the game within a day of each other? What a joke.
