Created in 1988 by Ninja Tune's founders Coldcut, and broadcasting on the then-pirate radio station Kiss FM, Solid Steel has been releasing mixes for the past 30 years. The shows ran weekly until December 2018, finishing with a guest mix from Juan Atkins (the first guest to appear on the show in 1988), and returned in 2019 in a new, more focused monthly format, continuing Solid Steel’s long history of supporting the best of both established and emerging artists.
