Making Healthy Rhythms in Your Life a Reality - Holly & Glenn Packiam - 65 - FrontStage BackStage with Jason Daye FrontStage BackStage with Jason Daye - Healthy Leadership for Life and Ministry

    • Christianity

As pastors and ministry leaders, we give consideration to the value of incorporating healthy rhythms into our lives and ministries, but we oftentimes struggle with making those rhythms a reality. In this week's conversation on FrontStage BackStage, host Jason Daye is joined by Holly and Glenn Packiam, who serve at Rock Harbor in Costa Mesa, California. Glenn serves as the lead pastor and Holly earned her master's degree in counseling at Colorado Christian University, and has served as pastor of parenting ministries. They are the authors of The Intentional Life, and the follow-up companion to that book, The Intentional Life Journal. Together, Holly, Glenn and Jason explore the importance of incorporating these rhythms into our lives. Holly and Glenn share from a personal experience simple ways to not only talk or think about these rhythms but to actually implement them in our daily lives.

Some key takeaways from this conversation:

Holly Packiam on the struggle and effort to adopt and maintain intentional practices: "These practices of intentionality… I don't actually feel like it's natural to me. I've had to work really hard, and I've had to come up with systems… to kind of keep me on track."

Glenn Packiam on how self-care goes beyond personal benefits and is instead motivated by the well-being and needs of others: "This isn't self-care as in, it's only for my own sake and ends with the self. No, this is for the sake of others."

Holly Packiam on recognizing and embracing one's identity as a son or daughter of God: "Your identity comes from that foundation that you are a son or daughter of God… if we could really live out of that confidence, that love… we would live in more freedom."
