Description
This application is a quick and easy-to-use tool for assessment of acute pain in cats based on changes in facial expressions. This tool underwent rigorous scientific validation and it was shown to be valid and reliable for the evaluation of pain in cats with different medical and surgical conditions, using both image- or real-time evaluation.
The Feline Grimace Scale App teaches users about this tool and facilitates real-time pain scoring in cats. It has several drawings and images to facilitate learning, including a practice session. This App can be used by any person.
Ultimately, the Feline Grimace Scale App aims to improve feline pain management across the globe by increasing awareness, providing education, and facilitating the practical assessment of acute pain in cats.

Wish We’d Had This Earlier!
We had a PU boi. IYKYK; repeated bladder/urethra blockages caused him to have one major surgery and numerous smaller procedures from time to time.
In the end, we had to put him on his path to the rainbow bridge because he couldn’t empty his bladder, had to wear the cone to prevent him licking/irritating himself, abs the poor little guy couldn’t really eat or drink with the cone on, either.
Now that I’ve learned just a little bit from this app, it seems like he really was in pain a great deal of the time that we didn’t know about.
I had no idea that he had been in constant pain. I thought the blockages were discrete events. But judging from what I remember, our little guy had been in pain very often.
I’m grateful that we have this app now to help us withbetter understanding when our cats are likely to be in pain!

My cat had an ear infection and I was able to catch it early thanks to this app. If I didn’t know about the feline grimace scale, I would’ve completely missed the signs!
