Our guest today is Ted Laking, President of the Association of Yukon Communities - and Councillor for the City of Whitehorse.
The Association of Yukon Communities (AYC) serves as a unifying force for the diverse communities across the territory.
With a mission to foster collaboration, AYC’s goal is to further the establishment of responsible government at the community level and to provide a united approach to community ambitions.
The association assists communities in their endeavour to achieve and sustain strong and effective local government, thereby improving the quality of life for all of the people of the Territory.
Through advocacy, networking, and resource-sharing initiatives, AYC empowers local leaders and promotes sustainable development, cultural preservation, and equitable access to services.
From May 9th to May 11th, the association of Yukon communities will be gathering in Dawson City for their 49th Annual Convention and AGM.

Full Interview: Jordan Ruegg, President of the Alberta Development Officer's Association
Welcome to “Z” is for Zoning on the Political Trenches: Local Government At Work.
Our guest today is Jordan Ruegg, President of the Alberta Development Officer's Association.
Jordan has served on the ADOA Executive since 2015, holding a number of positions, including Membership Chair, Education Chair, Vice-President and President.
He also serves as the ADOA’s liaison to the University of Alberta’s ALUP Advisory Committee.
Beginning in February 2015, Jordan has been employed by Smoky Lake County, first as a Planning and Development Officer and currently as the Manager of Planning and Development. In his current position, he is responsible for a variety of tasks regarding planning and development including but not limited to: issuance of development permits, subdivisions, bylaw amendments, rezonings, open houses, road closures and policy and bylaw drafting.
