1943. After spearheading several successful advertising campaigns in New York, PR wizard Alix St Pierre finds herself recruited into a fledgling intelligence organisation by the US government. Alix is sent to Europe where she is tasked with getting close to a Nazi who might be willing to help the Allied forces - but there's also the chance he might be a double agent.

1946. Following the war, Alix moves to Paris to run the Service de la Presse for the yet-to-be-launched House of Christian Dior. But when a figure from the war reappears and threatens to destroy her future, Alix realises that only she can right the wrongs of the past and bring him to justice.

From the bestselling Australian author of The Riviera House, this captivating story takes readers from the dangerous, intrigue-filled rooms in Switzerland where elites schemed during the war to the glamorous halls of the House of Dior in the golden age of French fashion and journalism.

'This is a really, really great book. Natasha Lester has dreamed up a brave, flawed, unbreakable heroine guided by her determination to survive and thrive no matter what. I was enthralled by this story and rooted for Alix every step of the way' DANIELA SACERDOTI

'A sumptuously written page-turner. Alix St Pierre is everything that makes an admirable heroine - independent, plucky, and clever' MADELINE MARTIN

Goddammit I hate that word!

I actually enjoyed this book despite the overuse of the word ‘Goddamn’ and all of its derivatives. This word made me cringe every time I read it. There were many errors that got my nerves jangling too. I enjoyed the history and peek into the early days of Dior and felt sad that fashion is a no show on most peoples bodies these days, sadly overtaken by the liberal and often unflattering use of black Lyrica (cringe again). The story made me wish I was born into a different era post war of course :)
