Publisher Description
The King's Executioner. The future queen. A forbidden love.
Feared across the realm, the King's executioner is a man shaped by silence, steel, and shadows. With one swing of his double-sided axe, he delivers swift death without question or mercy. Loyal only to the High King, his word is law—and his blade, final. But when he is sent to escort the future queen to her royal fate, everything begins to unravel.
From the moment he meets Anin, the mission becomes more than a duty. She is strong-willed, clever, and far from the pampered noble he expected. She awakens something in him long buried beneath blood and obedience. And though he knows better than to feel, he cannot seem to stop.
Anin knows her path is not her own. Promised to a king she has never met, she has resigned herself to duty over desire. But Paine, the stoic executioner with haunted eyes, stirs in her a longing she thought she'd buried. With every mile toward Pictland, the danger grows—and not only from those who want her dead.
Together, they must survive ambushes, betrayal, and the secrets they both carry. But their greatest challenge lies at the end of the road—where the High King waits to claim his bride, and where love may cost them everything.

Great book, and a very an enjoyable read!
There was action, mystery, magic, friends, and a sweet love story. Love and friendship was not not only between man & woman, but also between friends, and among families as well.
The King’s Executioner
It was a quick read. I felt it often repetitive “I want you, we can’t be together, I want you, we can’t be together”. Though the story was cute there was very little that surprised me. It lacked depth of characters and full development.
The King’s Executioner
This is another great read by Donna Fletcher. It has a story line with all kinds of twists and turns, some mystery, a little magic, strong romance and some really bad guys. Paine and Blyth have such a connection and I loved that. He meant nobody was going to take her away from him and she meant she wasn’t going to be taken away. I love the “test” near the end of the book to see if he was worthy of her.
I saw the other reviews where they mentioned the eye color and editing error, but I got so carried away with the story I only notice a few misprints and just kept reading. At this time, I do believe these have been corrected.. I thoroughtly enjoyed this book and look forward to books 2 and 3!
