Black Hole Monsters in the Void with Pieter van Dokkum

Black Hole Monsters in the Void with Pieter van Dokkum

An elusive creature roams freely, navigating the vast expanse of intergalactic space with astonishing speed. Its velocity is so immense that if it were present within our solar system, it could traverse the distance from Earth to the Moon in a mere 14 minutes. This extraordinary entity takes the form of a supermassive black hole, boasting a weight equivalent to that of 20 million Suns. In its wake, it has left an awe-inspiring trail, a celestial spectacle never witnessed before—a 200,000-light-year-long "contrail" adorned with newly born stars. This cosmic trail spans twice the diameter of our own Milky Way galaxy. Remarkably, this stunning phenomenon is believed to have arisen from an exceptionally rare and peculiar cosmic encounter involving three colossal black holes, akin to a game of galactic billiards.

Pieter van Dokkum of Yale University joins john michael godier on event horizon to discuss the runaway black hole candidate.

Why We Need To Pursue Nuclear Energy Featuring Bret Kugelmass

We're running out of energy, and with technology like AGI nearly here, we need something that can provide energy on a scale never seen before. What would the world be like if there was clean energy abundance? Bret Kugelmass, CEO of Last Energy, joins John Michael Godier to discuss why we need Nuclear Energy.

Last Energy is a new nuclear energy solution for customers up to 200 MWe – rapidly deploying affordable, clean power for behind-the-meter industrial applications through a full-service delivery model. The Last Energy PWR-20 micro modular power plant uses only proven nuclear technology and leverages modular manufacturing to scale production and rapidly develop plants in parallel.

Awesome Podcast and Channel

Been listening to John for years. Follow him on several platforms. His material, topics and guests are all awesome. He has a very unique channel that ranges on all things space. My favorite topics are stars, black holes and the search for life on other planets throughout the universe. Look for to future episodes. Event Horizon is definitely the right name, because if you ever crossover you’re trapped but in this case your knowledge of all things space will definitely grow. Thanks JMG

New platform. Same GREAT content.

Been listening to John and his guests for a few years now. I love the conversation format where he lets these people (most are leading experts in their fields) just talk and give thorough responses. You know he’s doing something right when I’ve heard “that’s a good question” 100s of times.

John Michael Godier and Event Horizon = perfect

Enough said.
