About Legion of the Damned
Hailing from Limburg, The Netherlands, death/thrash quartet Legion of the Damned evolved from the black metal-tinted outfit Occult, shortly after that band's final release in 2003. Comprised of vocalist Maurice Swinkels, guitarist Richard Ebisch, bassist Twan Fleuren, and drummer Erik Fleuren, Legion of the Damned officially adopted their new moniker and style in 2005, then signed with Massacre Records for the release of their debut, 2006's Malevolent Rapture. New bass player Harold Gielen (Inhume, Disgorge) joined soon thereafter, and Legion of the Damned later released 2007's Sons of the Jackal, 2008's Feel the Blade, 2009's Cult of the Dead, and 2011's Descent into Chaos. Former bassist Fleuren committed suicide in 2011, the year guitarist Richard Ebisch left the band (replaced by Twan van Geel). ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
