Born Jimmy Conway in 1987, Teflon grew up in the Lambeth borough of South London, drawing from his hardships for his raps. His music centers a blunt, unadorned style best consumed in the long stretches of his full-length projects. Early 2010s tapes like Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2: Riot Season earned Teflon the respect of fellow UK rappers like Blade Brown who’d take cues from Chicago to create their own strand of drill music.
