Publisher Description

Aroostine Higgins is back in USA Today bestseller Melissa F. Miller’s enthralling series. With nothing left to lose, Aroostine becomes a relentless hunter who won’t stop until she finds a missing woman and brings peace to a hurting community.

After her husband dies in a car accident, Aroostine wants to be left alone to mourn. But life has other plans. When a young woman goes missing, the authorities aren’t inclined to get involved. An old friend implores Aroostine to track her down for her desperate mother.

Still reeling, Aroostine sets off on a cross-country hunt that puts her in the cross-hairs of a shadowy organization with violent ties as she searches for a young woman who has very good reasons to want to stay lost.

Poor Joe

Sad to see Joe have to go. Hopefully Rufus will get to go on Aroostine/Rue’s next adventure.

I enjoyed the other books in this series but not this one because Joe was taken out of the story. I really enjoyed the interactions between the couple and Joe’s humor. This book was more boring and so much like other mysteries.

Perfect

I thoroughly enjoyed and found myself immersed in this Aroostine Higgins novel. I was worried it would devastate me because Joe was gone, but Mrs. Miller wove was he story so completely and carried the reader through the grieving process that it was but a silver thread in a beautiful tapestry. It was sweet, real and relatable and so perfectly written. I was drawn in by the very real world situation with Dahlia and the pipeline and turned page after page because I just could not put it down. The rich character development continues and I love the overlap of characters from book to book and even across series. This was a quick read (maybe because I couldn’t put it down) and once again has left me anxiously waiting another. I’ve also added a few “vacation spots” to my list based on this book and the characters in it. I am very excited by the path this novel has placed Aroostine on and can’t wait for her next adventure.

*I was provided an advance copy of this book.
