Should Will Smith Sign His ELC Or Go Back To Boston College For Another Season?

One of the biggest offseason questions for the San Jose Sharks is if Freshman phenom Will Smith will sign his ELC this summer. Hadi Kalakeche and Sebastian High of Locked on NHL Prospects join to debate the pros and cons of Will Smith going back to Boston College for another season or turning pro this offseason. We start with why it makes sense for Smith to start his professional career based on what he needs to work on in his development. Then, why does staying in school for another year make sense? Will Smith is expected to take over the 1C role while Cutter Gauthier turns pro. Hadi and Sebastian also give their opinion on what Mike Grier and the Sharks will do this summer. Finally, what does JD think the Sharks will do with Smith this offseason, and what is the reasoning behind it?

San Jose Sharks Suffer Another Epic Collapse To The Chicago Blackhawks, Losing 5-4 In Overtime

Less than a week after the San Jose Sharks blew a game to the Chicago Blackhawks, they did it again. This time, they surrendered a four-goal lead to the Hawks and eventually lost 5-4 in overtime. Start with where this leaves the Sharks in their pursuit of the number one pick in the NHL Draft with 12 games to play. Then, some of the positives in the game include Fabian Zetterlund notching his 20th goal of the season, Thomas Bordeleau's continued ascension and Devin Cooley giving a reason why he should stick around. Next, analyze how the Sharks gave up a four-goal lead thanks in part to the offense going to sleep in the second period and their inability to create sustained pressure, and where William Eklund should slot in. Finally, Sharks prospects Will Smith, Quentin Musty, and Luca Cagnoni had excellent weekends, proving that the future is indeed bright for the Sharks.

William Eklund was demoted to the fourth line before the start of the San Jose Sharks 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Was it the right call by Head Coach David Quinn? Discuss how Eklund has struggled the last few games and why a refresh in his role was good for him. Then, examine if playing at center is the best spot for him in the long term. Next, analyze the numbers behind the Sharks' loss and how they outplayed the Lightning for the first 40 minutes before the Lightning found their game, and review Mackenzie Blackwood's return from injury. Finally, react to Pierre McGuire's recent statements about the direction of the Sharks and if San Jose is indeed headed in the right direction under Mike Grier.

Great podcast

Love the analytics, it’s positive, which is helpful for a team who’s not very good. Keep up the great analytics and keep talking about the Cuba.

Best Sharks Podcast Out There

JD does a great job of breaking things down and explaining how the team got here, and where they could be going. Though I don’t always agree with him, I appreciate his through knowledge and background information, you can tell he does his research. WAY too many adds, but we all have to make a buck don’t we? Perfect length of episodes too! Good to listen to for a work out or on a lunch break. One of the few podcasts I have to listen to every day.
