Putin’s ISIS problem
As President Putin repeats his assertion that Ukraine and the West are behind the terrorist attack last week that killed 137 Russians, the evidence is only growing that this was the work of ISIS. The culprits come from a faction that have risen out of the ashes of the former ISIS Caliphate: ISIS-K. So who are they? And how worried should the rest of the world be?

Lessons from the world's assisted dying capital
Sir Keir Starmer has promised he will hold a vote on assisted dying if he wins the general election. In Canada - where it was made legal in 2016 - over 50,000 people have already been helped to die. So with momentum growing in Britain, could the Canadian experience hold important lessons for us?

How To Win an Election... With Taylor Swift (And Other Celebrities)
This Saturday morning we're sharing an episode of Times podcast How to Win an Election with listeners of The Story.
In the US, Taylor Swift could have the power to swing the presidential election. As famous faces come out to back Keir Starmer's plans for the arts, we ask when a celebrity endorsement can boost a campaign... and when it can go badly wrong.
The political masterminds Peter Mandelson, Polly Mackenzie and Daniel Finkelstein join Matt Chorley to discuss star power, and who could be the next Conservative leader - could the runners and riders include Michael Gove and even David Cameron?

Sibling Abuse
This is a story long overdue. It was delivered sensitively & also with honesty. My only criticism is that even though it is about sibling abuse, the referencing, language & narratives gave the impression that sibling abuse leaves female victims & male perpetrators. In reality it is in both directions. That really needs to be acknowledged. That aside, Liz Roberts was amazing & brave.
Rethink the format
I listened to several episodes, which were all on interesting subjects. All totally ruined by the Q&A format between two journalists. It is repetitive and really patronising. We will understand it without every single point being broken down!
Good, but PLEASE learn how to pronounce things!
This podcast would be excellent were it not for the endless mispronunciation of common English words!
On the Andes plane crash episode: I do wish the main journalist telling the story knew how to pronounce ‘fuselage’, it’s incredibly irritating as she says it incorrectly throughout!
Similarly, Marylebone is pronounced MAH-lebone not Marrilibone; I realise that that may be difficult for non-Londoners to get their heads round but it’s hardly complicated.
Finally, the word “something” does NOT end in a “k”!
Errors like these are extremely jarring to listen to, especially on words that are repeated throughout an episode and they create a general atmosphere of not being quite as professional or knowledgeable as you should be.
