The Gametime Guru Shane Larson

When I tell you that you want to tune into this one, I'm not lying! This is a fantastic episode and an amazing opportunity for you to learn from someone who has leveraged their hard work and talents they put into the sport they played, and is now using them for their business endeavors outside of sport. 
Kenneth Scott played Wide Receiver for the University of Utah. During his tenure there, he sustained some serious injuries, and we'll chat about the mental battles and difficulties that come along with those. How did he overcome them? What was the importance of having a solid support system?! 
We'll discuss the hard work it took to get to a level of being able to compete at the D1 level of football for a very solid program. Physically and mentally and culturally. What was the biggest difference between Salt Lake City, Utah and where Kenneth (K-Scott) came from? 
Outside of football, K-Scott now is an author (I'll link his book down below), a speaker, an educator and much more! He's continuing to share insights from his playing days through various avenues and helping athletes, leaders, and others who are aspiring to be better.

I've known Hayes for a while now, but mainly on the basketball court. What I didn't know however, was his story and what he was doing with Hoop.Camp. 
Today we get to hear about it. From his playing days and the experiences he had competing at a high level. Some of the insights he would provide to the aspiring athletes out there who are looking to compete in college. 
We will dive DEEP into Hoop Camp and learn about what Hayes and his father along with their amazing team are doing for those who have special needs. Where are these camps located? How can we get involved? What does it look like? What are some of the lessons they've learned from being involved with Hoop Camp from the beginning? 
Hoop.Camp is a non-profit organization that hosts sports camps and clinics For all adults and children with additional and special needs.

Here are a few facts (taken from the website) about Hoop Camp: 
Since 1994 we have been serving those in our communities of all ages with special needs, mental and cognitive impairment Over 30,000 volunteer hours have been logged since Hoop.Camp began. No coaches, directors or any staff are compensated at Hoop.Camp — ALL are volunteers. Hoop.Camp is a 501 (c)3 non-profit corporation registered with the IRS. All donations are deductible. Nineteen Boy Scouts have used Hoop.Camp as their Eagle service project and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Our oldest athlete was 73 years old. One special needs athlete could dunk a basketball. Hoop.Camp is a “unified” event. Athletes without special needs participate with our special needs campers. Many of our athletes have competed in Special Olympic sporting events internationally. Many have won gold medals in Special Olympic participation. Our younger and smaller athletes play on 8′ baskets. Our coach to athlete ratio is 1:4. What an amazing opportunity for us to learn about such an impactful organization that is giving back to the sports world in a MASSIVE way!

There was a time in the "Boise State Era" when there were a great amount of players who happened to be 'NFL' talent on both sides of the ball. Chase Baker, was one of those players. 
Today on the show, we get to hear about his journey through the football world as he was able to play at Boise State as a Bronco during the era where it truly TOOK OFF! 
We discuss some of his favorite memories at Boise State, as well as how he even got recruited in High School (listen to this story that might intrigue you as he was battling an injury he had sustained late in his high school athletics career). We also chat about some of his favorite games he was a part of during that time. 
What intrigued me about Chase's story of his playing days though, was how his professional journey ended up. What was it like being part of the Vikings organization when he was there. How does the NFL do business? Did he feel like he could match physically with the guys who were there? All these questions we chat about in the interview. 
I also love hearing about his story of how he even got into coaching. Because he's had quite an interesting and unique coaching journey thus far in his career. From stints in high school, scouting, FCF (Fan Controlled Football League), and even coaching overseas for the Barcelona Dragons and now at the NFL Academy in London, he's really taking this coaching and development thing head on!

Almost two years ago, we spoke with Seth McCoy, who is well known on Social Media as The 6ix Shooter!! That episode (which can be found here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2SOWTy6h33pyzoekKEFPiH?si=18e67f983a564498) was a great way to learn about who Seth is and his backstory!
Today, we are circling back and getting a follow up from that interview because SO MUCH has transpired since that time! 
I mean, we're talking about his world record attempt, which was the summer of 2023 where he attempted to break the world record for the most three point attempts made in a 24 hour span of time. Turns out, it's actually pretty tough on the body to attempt such a feat. And we'll hear about it from the man himself, and learn whether or not he plans to attempt it again! 
Seth has competed in professional basketball for the TBL with the Owensboro Thoroughbreds, he's competed in a 3 point competition which included a 6-figure cash prize, he's gone to All-Star Weekend in the NBA and was able to compete in a 3-Point Competition which he was able to win, and much more! 
In the meantime, he's continued to do his live streams on TikTok where as of THIS point he's been able to hit 100 three pointers in a row, 56 different times!!  (At the time of this recording he was at 55, but less than 2 weeks later he hit his 56th time) 
The guy can shoot the ball! He knows what it takes to be consistent and he's showing that to the world. Has he almost 'normalized' hitting 100 threes in a row though? What does he need to do in order to get more recognition? It's almost as if people 'expect' that of him now, without realizing JUST HOW HARD that is to hit 100 threes in a row.

Many may look at Germaine Roebuck Jr. (Buck) as a professional basketball player and think "oh, he's always been good at ball..." Well let me tell you (or better yet, why don't you let Buck tell you), that this most certainly was NOT the case. 
Buck rarely saw the floor in high school, but he kept working. He believed in himself and in his own abilities. He found his way to a college program and continued to work. Something many athletes in today's world don't want to do. When they don't see the results immediately, they end up giving up, rather than betting on themselves and trusting the process. 
Buck KEPT WORKING!! He found himself improving in every place he played. Not every place was a perfect scenario for him, but he kept working. 
After college he ended up getting an opportunity to play at the professional level overseas. He continued to work (noticing a theme here?) 
Today you'll get to hear of his story and the lessons he's learned along the way. We'll also learn about his playing time in the BAL (Basketball Africa League) and how the talent level was over there. 
At the time of this recording, Buck is recovering from an Achilles Injury that he sustained in the off-season. He's currently putting in work to recover and get back on the court fully healthy to continue his career and his passion!
