Hip-hop-leaning J-Pop boy band DA PUMP was formed in 1996, when the members met at the Okinawa Actors School entertainment academy. ∙ Beat Ball, their third album, topped the Japanese charts in 2000. ∙ DA PUMP recorded the closing theme for 2005’s Kamen Rider: The First, and lead singer Issa “ISSA” Hentona has a small role in the superhero film. ∙ Their video for “U.S.A,” their 2018 cover of Joe Yellow’s ’90s Eurobeat hit, has received 225 million views. ∙ The group choreographed the video for J-Pop idol group SKE48’s No. 1 hit “Soyutokoaruyone?” in 2019.
