Enjoyable and encourages rounded development

I’ve been using Peak for over a year. I enjoyed the free version but got fed up with not being to choose which games to play, so I paid for the full version at Xmas. There are limits on how far you can progress without achieving certain goals, such as completing a workout everyday (but there are lots to choose from) or achieving set goals within the games. These provide good challenges and make me play the games properly, rather than just frittering time away distractedly. Having achieved a high level in some games but more or less ignoring others, I’m now having to achieve an overall Peak brain score to be able to progress in all games. This annoyed me a bit - it’s another obstruction on progressing to higher levels and on my choice of what to play- but it’s meant I’ve engaged better with the games I don’t like or find challenging. As a brain training app this is great- I’m exercising a broader range of skills than before. I questioned the validity of some of the game categories initially but my weaker categories overlap with identified weaknesses in reality. I’ve recommended Peak to lots of friends. Really enjoyable and the structure forces me to move beyond what I enjoy and can do easily.

‘New’ games are at least 2 years old, app not being updated, don’t bother renewing

Response from the developer is exactly the same as previous response - they claim to be ‘developing’ but there have been no new features or changes to design in at least 2 years. Noticeable that each time there is an ‘update’ to the app they don’t say what the update is for. Same message every time.

Wish I’d cancelled renewal - there is nothing happening with this app. Waste of money after you’ve played for a while as it all becomes boring with no new games added. Over a year ago they told me that it takes time to develop new games but still nothing new. Previous review Still nothing happening with ‘new’ games that are now well over a year old and still classified as ‘new’. Problems with rankings. It will show you as a Grand Master waiting to rank up to Legend even when you have satisfied all the criteria and have scores in excess of 900. No responses from developers to messages sent via Facebook. Earlier review. I’ve been using the paid version of Peak for several years. To start with it was fine, but they seem to have stopped developing/updating the app. There are only 2 co-ordination games, which is poor compared to the number of games in other categories. About a year ago they added some new games in other categories which are still showing as ‘new’ games which don’t affect your overall score. Checking the Peak Facebook page shows no posts since October 2020. Are they still in business?

Developer Response ,

Hi there; thanks for your review. We have added several new features in the past year. We added our Peak Feed, added a filter for users with dyscalculia, added all game scores to our user's statistics of the games that were still in the beta version, and we incorporated our Peak Blog page into the app homepage. These are just a couple of things we added to Peak. Our Facebook page is active, and we aim to post regularly; we also reply to Facebook users who send us messages. We don't release new games as often because each game has to go through an intensive scientific research process that takes quite a long time, but this helps us make each game meaningful rather than release any game. Some of the improvements we make to Peak are not noticeable to all users. For example, we are busy fixing bugs, doing marketing for Peak, and many other things that are being improved and tweaked, and this takes up our time and resources, but we hope to be able to release new games soon. If you check in the app, we have just released our Halloween-themed "Spooky Path", and we hope that you enjoy it. If you have any further concerns or experience any ranking up issues with the app, please do not hesitate to message us via email at support@peak.net, and we are happy to receive any suggestions from you on what we can do to make our app better for you.
