Description

Putting power back into the hands of survivors.

ReDawn: With dawn comes hope for victims of sexual assault.

For many communities, the world can feel overwhelmingly dangerous and isolating. In America, 1 in 3 women experience sexual assault, yet rape is still the most under-reported crime (according to stats from NSVRC). If you or someone you know are a victim of sexual assault, you might feel discouraged from seeking out help because it's hard to know where to even start. But you are not alone - meet Dawn.

~ Dawn: Dawn answers any questions you might have surrounding sexual assault, and you won't have to fear any judgment. Dawn will respond with resources, advice, and more. We believe survivors.

~ Map: Here, you can view health and crisis centers near you. Simply click on a location to reveal further description of its services, directions, as well as calling and website information.

~ Reporting: With reporting, you can take note of past incidents securely within the app. By logging the type of incident, date and time, perpetrator(s) involved, location, and key details, all necessary information will be just a tap away, should you choose to report to authorities.

~ Hotlines: Dawn is here to help, but Dawn is NOT the complete solution either. This tab connects you to hotlines for situations that require more immediate attention and emergency resources. There are buttons for 911, the national hotlines for suicide and sexual assault, as well as buttons to chat anonymously online with those hotlines.

After dusk, there is always ReDawn.

Needs more improvement, but an excellent idea.

This is a fantastic idea for survivors! Support and solutions are directly at your fingertips. I understand this is still in early development but, with more improvement, it could become a popular, useful, and reassuring tool. Here are some suggestions:

1. Clean up the interface. There are some cramped spaces in the layout where words don't fit properly, and the Hotlines tab has a few typos here and there. Clean presentation goes a long way.

2. Add more information into Dawn's chat tab! Her answers are limited. Some questions I thought of included "What should I do if I suspect my neighbor is being assaulted?" and "What should I do if I'm being harassed in the workplace?" She didn't have answers for either of these. Programming takes a great deal of time and work, but I'm sure this feature will be improved eventually!

3. On the same subject as my previous suggestion, one idea could be to record your own voice for Dawn's answers instead of an automated readout. Hearing a real human being's voice could be very comforting to a person who's scared and hesitant to report an assault.

Thank you so much for making this, and please keep working to improve it. It's a valuable concept that deserves to grow.

Looks great, easy to use

This app is really simple but very effective. The map to locate health and crisis centers is awesome. The hotlines tab is also really simple and to the point, which is probably for the best given the target audience- someone dealing with vulnerable feelings and looking for immediate help. The app is looks good and is really easy to use. The chat function seems a little limited, but I’m sure it’ll improve as the app is put to use.

Great app!

Hi! I saw your app from tiktok and decided to play around with it. Although I don’t need the app right now (luckily) I think it’s an amazing idea and has great features to help those in unsafe situations. I like the chatting feature. Obviously more questions will be able to be answered as the app is updated. But overall it’s awesome and helped me locate health/crisis centers near my college if I ever needed them
