In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In 1963, I was strapped to the coffee table in my parents' living room. The dishwasher was making a rumbling sound, due to a loose belt, and our Basset Hound, Clyde was experiencing flatulence. This confluence became the basis of my musical lexicon. Tell us why you chose this song. “Happy Smiling Nipple Boy” I wrote this song while perusing the used underwear at a thrift store in Montreal. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and everyone seemed cheerful. No one cared that I was wearing a gorilla suit. The air bristled with the aroma of hyacinth in bloom.
