Flintlock

About Flintlock

This UK teenybop band of the mid-70s was led by heart-throb drummer Mike Holoway, introduced to television audiences via the children’s science fiction programme The Tomorrow People. The series told the story of several teenagers who had evolved beyond the rest of humanity and acted as guardians to its fate. Holoway appeared as Mike Bell in the fourth series of the programme, a would-be pop star both on screen and off, with an affected cockney accent. In one serial, ‘The Heart Of Sogguth’, Holoway performed with Flintlock on a musical piece with a supposedly mind-controlling beat heralding the arrival of extra-terrestrials. However, Flintlock’s music was as cardboard as the sets and they achieved only one hit with ‘Dawn’ in 1976 despite considerable exposure from children’s magazines such as Look In.
